This publication is composed out of extensive research
material behind a short documentary Stimulant, which was screened at the British Film Institute in 2013. The film introduces an experimental hypnotic session, that enables the human brain to reach
high levels of activity witch triggers higher creativity.
Collaboration with hypnotherapist from Harley Street Clinic and Danish choreographer Marie-Louise Stentebjerg, along with evidence of how the subconscious mind behaved during the experiment, proved that it is, in fact, the process of original thought that transforms participant’s ideas into powerful visions.
The Stimulant was described as “Distinctive in all dimensions” by British writer and painter Jonathan Miles.

Greek historian Procopius of Caesarea linked delirious hallucinations with insomnia and coma as early as AD 542. He believed that people who suffer from hallucinations are violent and hyper - excited whilst sleepwalking.
Procopius claimed that victims often experience disturbing omens and visions of a supernatural being human form (sometimes a headless man) who would touch them, thus passing the disease.
He also stated that victims
of delirium do not feel any pain and are therefore lucky.
From a medical point of view, beside all the nonsense, his observations from AD 542 originate long-standing theories about sleep disorders which in extreme cases cause hallucinations.
PINKY'S DREAM

This artwork was inspired by the waiter called Pinky - a fictional character from the My Face
story written by American novelist William S. Burroughs.
Pinky was also mentioned in the Crazy Clown Time
album by David Lynch featuring singer Karen O.
Pinky's Dream
was part of multimedia exhibition entitled From Selfie to Self-Expression at Saatchi Gallery in London 2017.

“Dreaming is formally more similar to delirium than any other kind of psychosis.” This theory was based on dream reports at Harvard Extension School where neurologists compared the state of delirium to the state of consciousness of human brain whilst asleep. Possibly, dreams, delirium and imagination are all connected by similar neurological states of human consciousness.
The above mentioned theory, hypnotic experiments and extensive medical research inspired me to create collection of collages and documentary photographs.
